Achtergrond
Physical functioning is the most important outcome domain to measure in patients with low back pain (LBP). OPERa-LBP is a clinimetric study that aims to assess a new computer-based and patient-reported instrument to measure physical functioning in LBP: the PROMIS Physical Function. This instrument takes advantages of recent developments in the field of psychometrics, namely item response theory, item banking and computerized adaptive testing. In this study, this new instrument will be compared to three well-established standard patient-reported instruments for physical functioning in low back pain: the Oswestry Disability Index, the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire, and the Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale. More specifically, the measurement properties (i.e. validity, reliability and responsiveness) and feasibility of the four instruments will be compared to determine which one displays a better measurement performance.
